Reflection on ThinkAchieve Experience
One of my goals from my first day at UTC was to be involved on campus and to be able to get out and experience a whole bunch of different things. I can honestly say that I have worked very hard to complete that goal. I joined ThinkAchieve because one of friends took me to all of her events, so it just made sense to get the recognition if I was already going to be doing the work. By doing this, I was able to experience vastly different yet always interesting events that taught me everything from applicable paper writing skills to differing cultural viewpoints to moments from our country's history and many other things in between. While many events did not directly relate to my major or to either of my minors (because there are rarely events in the mathematical field that would be interesting for everybody), all of the events were intriguing and allowed for me to get out of my world of numbers and to learn and experience other things. Similarly, being a part of the Honors College at UTC has also provided so many great opportunities to see and to do things that I would not have otherwise been able to. I got to go on my first trip Europe and was able to learn about their history and culture. I got to take classes where hands on learning and reflecting taught me that things can take a while to be accomplished and that taking the time to do so is okay. While I did not necessarily learn much that I could apply to my major, what I did learn and what I did experience was so much better than I could have ever thought it would be. Joining ThinkAchieve was quite beneficial in helping me accomplishment my goal of being more involved and I am very glad that I decided to join.
